Water Distribution

 Five full time employees make up the Wellington Water Distribution Department. Under the supervision of the Water Distribution Supervisor, these employees maintain approximately 31 miles of water distribution lines and about 350 fire hydrants.This department is also responsible for over 3000 water meters used on the city's water distribution line, which also reaches out into some rural areas of the county.

 In addition to daily repairs to water line breaks and leaks, this department conducts daily testing for chlorine residual and nine times monthly for coliform bacteria, so that the water meets or exceeds KDHE minimum requirements.Providing assistance to the fire department in fire hydrant testing is also a yearly occurrence.
